Mini Interview |
|
| My first homebrew... | 30 years ago bought a kit which came with its own dry yeast. Called for about as much sugar as the liquid malt. What with poor sanitation and the ingredients the result was pretty awful, tasting a lot like vinegar. Most of it went down the drain. That turned me off to homebrewing for years. After the microbrew scene started I started appreciating good beer and found out many of these brewers started as homebrewers so I thought I'd try it again. Thanks to Palmers "How to Brew" and B3's excellent kits the result was very good. A hoppy pale ale which I savored to the last bottle. |

| Why I homebrew... | I'm also an avid cook and baker of sourdough breads. In that arena I found you can make things so much better than what you can buy and there is a real pleasure in eating something you have crafted. Its the same with homebrew. I love the hands on crushing the grain, mashing, lautering, boiling, and peeking at the fermenting result. And tasting the result is one of the great pleasures in life. |
