Mini Interview
My first homebrew... Got the kit from my wife on Christmas 2003 with a Continental Pilsner. Read everything I could about home brewing until I felt comfortable doing the extract. Brewed the kit at the end of February and enjoyed it through March. Indeed it was the best beer I had ever had, but everyone since has been even better.
Homebrewing Story... When "bucketing" my first brew, I filled the fermenter with the beer, secured the top and put the airlock in. The rubber seal was dry so I had to force the airlock which popped the seal into my beer. Couldn't get it out with spoons or siphons or anything so I decided to stick my arm down there. I retreived the seal and placed it back in the top, shoved the airlock in and let it go. Having read so much about sanitation, I was sure that the beer was ruined. Much to my surprise, after a month of worrying, the beer was fine, in fact it was great. I wouldn't recommend aerating your wort with your arms though.

Why I homebrew... Brewing for me utilizes the strengths of both my left and right brain properties. I'm able to be creative in designing the beers yet keeping in mind the science that goes into the brewing process. Plus I like drinking beer.
