Mini Interview |
|
| My first homebrew... | Not really HOMEbrew, but I really got hooked on brewing after going to a brew-on-premises that used to be in Chicago. They had great equipment - steam kettles, big cold room, powered bottle filler. Did this with a group of friends 3 or 4 times. Great fun, I was hooked for sure. I had to wait a few years, though, until we moved into our own home. I bought a real kit from a great LHBS, The Brewer's Coop. Cream Ale, not great, but definitely drinkable. I saved a few and had one recently. I've gotten better, for sure! |
| Homebrewing Story... | About 12 years ago, I bought this self-contained 'kit' I think from Sam's Club. If I remember correctly is was a thick plastic sack with an attached spiggot. You add boiling water, let it cool down, add yeast, let sit for a week. The bag puffed up for sure, but nasty stuff! |
| 3 favorite beers | Pilsner Urquell Guinness Sam Adams, various styles |
| Why I homebrew... | I'm a total DIY guy. Spent most of a summer putting in a brick patio, wired my home for network/phone/audio/video. I did give up fixing my car, though. No fun anymore. Homebrewing feeds so many of my interests: DIY, great beer, gadgets galore, meeting crazy people. I love the look on people's faces when they taste great homebrew. |
| Brewing Accomplishments | Not much so far. Did a reasonable lager. I call it Orville Redenbacher, it's got so much diacetyl! Working on an all-grain setup. Almost there. |
