Description
Nope, there's no cherries in here, but feel free to add them if you choose. This was our first all-grain experience. Very grainy, heady, full-bodied, dry, and semi-bitter oatmeal stout.

Recipe Details
Tasting Notes It's sweet and bitter at the same time. The hop additions look pretty strong, but we used pretty old whole hops so I'm sure the alpha acid units were off by a mile. Got lucky there because it's still fairly bitter. You can really taste the grains.

Yeast White Labs 005 British Ale Yeast (75% app. attenuation)
Primary Fermentation Bucket, 7 days
Secondary Fermentation Bottles, 7 days

Procedure Mash the grain at 156 for 60 minutes. 4 gallons at 168 should do it. Sparge with 170 degree water untill you have 7 gallons total. Allow to boil for five minutes then add 1 oz Columbus. Boil for 50 minutes and add Cascade hops. Adjust your grain bill for your brewhouse efficiency. Our efficiency is bad because we'd rather just buy a couple more pounds of grain and do a fast 20 minute sparge.
