I've brewed the most that I have in probably a year or so over the last few weekends, which still isn't as much as I'd like to. Two very good friends of mine are due to be fininshing the Appalachian trail next week after starting in March, and I promised them some full kegs would be waiting when they returned.

I was pleasantly surprised last week when I decided to check the 2+ year old carboy of Cider that has been sitting in a corner covered with dust, having a completely dried out airlock, and a thin film of some mold like something-or-other floating on top. I was getting ready to dump, when I took a sample just in case... Pretty freakin' tasty!!! It's in a keg as I type.

Doing a quick extract Raspberry Wheat Ruby clone tomorrow -- just don't have the extra time this weekend to mash. An hour and a half and I'll be done.

Cheers...

Started a dumb house blog.

The pics should explain why I haven't been brewing as much as I should...
This madness has been going on for over 2 years now, and is kind of close to being done.

Whoa... Haven't been here in a while. I almost think I forgot how to brew (but I'll have a run at it anyway, just to make sure)

Forgive me father, it's been just over a year since my last brew -- an ill fated IPA that was brewed on superbowl sunday 2005. Ill fated in that it was kind of forgotten about during an insane flurry of home improvement endeavors -- ie completely gutting a kitchen, having a new roof put on (complete tear off btw -- 5 layers of shingles), and a new chimney built from the roofline up..

That poor, poor IPA. It never deserved to brought into this world and then forgotten to autolize in primary. It smelled like beef stock. With lots and lots of hops. Simcoe hops. I snuck a taste right before i dumped it just to make sure it was bad. It was indeed bad.

Anyway, I've ordered a new carbon block for my water filter, dug out my log/recipe book, dusted off the kettle and grain mill and took stock of how many hops are still crammed in the freezer languishing away under freezer-burned bags of fish sticks and frozen veggies. I have more than enough hops to avenge the untimely and unnecessary death of the other IPA.

This weekend, I shall brew again....

Man, it's been a while!!!
Haven't brewed a damn thing since superbowl sunday, and even that batch didn't even make it into a keg. This house is kicking my ass in short order!
As I'm writing this, a roofing crew is (as it would seem) trying to tear the whole goddamn house down.
I've got no kitchen (it's gutted -- with a capital GUT)...
I have to move my keg freezer into the basement to continue the kitchen remodel, but in order to do that, I have to dismantel the old furnace that's blocking the walk-out door in the basement...

Oh, but I've got BIG plans for late summer/fall...

Can't wait to get back in the brewery!

Cheers
