Brewed a modified version of the Brutal Bitter, but adding some rye malt and using all cascade hops. I've got about 3 lbs of cascade hops so this was a good way to make a dent in that stash. I'm curious to see how it will turn out. It's fermenting with Rogue's pacman yeast, which I got from Nate, who got it from Russ, who got it from Rogue at the Warehouse sale. Definitely going to harvest that yeast. Thinking about brewing the Denny's Old Stoner and pitching it on top of the yeast cake from this. Anyway, it was a good brew day with Matt, Bill, and Nate. And it probably was my fastest yet -- 5 hours from start to finish. Usually it takes 8 for me. Maybe that explains why I was 8 points below my target gravity and only got 4 gallons instead of 5!

Caustic Bitter
5 gallons

10.5 lb 2-row
1 lb Crystal 20L
.5 lb Crystal 40L
1 lb Rye malt
1.75 oz Cascade (5.5% AA) at FWH, 90, 60, flameout.

Mashed at 154F.
