WOWEE!! Just tasted an IPA made from the second runnings of a rye barley wine that Rob and I made. We called it Sloppy Seconds IPA, but this one can certainly stand on it's own. First off the clean, intense piney, fruity aroma knocks you back from the Crystal hops. The balance between the bitterness and maltiness are just about perfect. With a very high citrusy, floral flavor, and a stand-up malt backbone, this one hell of an IPA. It has a very garnet, golden red color. The mouthfeel is very smooth and medium-high bodied. There is almost no lingering bitterness, but a definitly pleasing aftertaste.
I will be definetly taking this one to our club xmas party next weekend.
