I made a 3 gallon batch of "All spalt Alt" last night. I'm not quite sure why I made 3 gallons, maybe cause that's the only size carboy I have available at the moment for lagering. Anyway I brew all grain, and while I like it, it does get tedious spending 4 to 4-1/2 hours brewing sometimes. Anyway last night, From the moment I put the water on to heat, to cleanup took just 3 hours! It was really fun. I may do this more often, I dunno. Maybe I need to look more closely why my 5 gallon system takes longer. Mostly waiting longer for thigs to heat and cool I suppose. Just rambling.... |

Hi, New user here. I've been lurking on rcb newsgroup for a while, and probably will lurk mostly here too. Looks like a nice forum here though. I mostly make wine, but enjoy brewing too. I'm new at it, 7 batches so far. Amazing how good a beer you can make at home. I brew all grain using the typical cooler mash tun setup and batch sparge. Mostly use White labs yeast since that's what my LHBS sells. If your on the east coast check out www.northcoutrymalt.com I just getting sacks of malt from them. They have a great selection, and will deal with homebrewers.
