| I've been taking a brewing break the last month and a half to concentrate on building a wood-fired oven. Need to get back to it. Thinking of a pale ale. | |

| That must mean just the regular Ommegang. It just says Ommegang on the front, right? They also have Rare Vos, Three Philosophers and Hennepin. | |

I just have to vent about the sorry state of the US dollar. Normally I wouldn't, but I'm going to Germany tomorrow. I remember a time when our currency allowed us to get a favorable exchange rate, but now I'm only able to get about 0.75 euros/$1. And for the last week I've been tracking the dollar and I agonize everytime I hear the words "The dollar hit a four-year low against the euro today," which is about every day. Hooray for trade deficits and budget deficits. Four more years! Oh well, I'm still going to try a lot of beer while I'm over there. And wine. |

I cracked open a barley wine I made with my sister and my future brother-in-law back in the beginning of August. It was delicious! Nothing like a 10.5% beer. To think that it's only half the % Alc./vol. of a DFH 120 Minute IPA. Ridiculous. A few of us here at the lab are going to be making an Impy Stout and an amber this week in honor of Thanksgiving. Hope all of you that are traveling this weekend stay safe. |
