The year is about done. How much beer did everyone make this year? I haven't had a chance to brew since the end of August (hunting season got in the way). I made 140 gallons up to that point (I am at work now and don't know how many batchs it was). Shooting for a little more in 2007. How about you guys?

Almost 100 Gallons. This year I moved from extract to all grain and from 5 gallon batches to 7.5 gallon batches. Also I upped my fermenting capacity signifigantly over the year, so next year will see more high gravity in a hopefully more solid rotation of more nailed down session beers.

I guess I really am a newbie to the hobby. I only made 35 gallons. HOwever there was a great increase after the purchase of my keg system.
I wish this was not one of those situations where the size really does matter. I hope to be bigger next year.
BTW, I added the pi_beer so as to not confuse with all of the other Dave's.

Two batches this week make the bakers dozen here which is around 65 gal, plus a couple odd small 2 gallon batches. Started all-grain in July, so about 6-7 batches under my belt to this point.

Being the end of the year and all, I've been updating my records and such...
Only to discover that I am really lame anymore when it comes to brewing... Hell, if it hadn't been for club or AHA sanctioned events I only brewed twice (5 overall)... total of 55 gal....
Judged a couple of comps so I've got my BJCP points and don't have to worry about it for a while...
Got my picture in Northwest Brewing News thanks to Mitch Scheele, plus I'm standing next to our club babe Molly in a cute little dress (she's in the dress, not me)...
Another article published in Zymurgy (eat your heart out Denny!), plus another coming up in the Equipment issue....
But good memories... Big Brew is always a hoot out at Denny's, Teach Day was great as well, and Iron Brewer was a kick... Hop Madness was a blast even though N8 wasn't there to be my Hop Bitch...
And somewhere in there I managed to drink a beer or two over the last twelve months...
Good times, good beers, good friends...
God Bless ya all, and have a happy and safe New Year!

105 with my all grain system and that starts 9/12. Before that it was pretty slack as I moved from MD to NH
Hard to move with full fermenters. I would say another 100 or so the first 3/4 of the year. I'm bound to break
that easily this year. Good thing I have a co-brewer and a wife to bring up the gallons per year allocation by johnny law.
Has anyone experienced any problems with brewing "over the limit?"

N8's comment about Oregon not having a limit got me curious. Below is the regulation form the Alcohol & Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (formerly part of BATF).
Do states overide this Federal regulation? Doesn't really matter as no one is going to enforce, just something to do over lunch..... Besides I am lucky if I get 40 - 50 gallons brewed in a year.
e) Beer for personal or family use
Subject to regulation prescribed by the Secretary, any adult may,
without payment of tax, produce beer for personal or family use and not
for sale. The aggregate amount of beer exempt from tax under this
subsection with respect to any household shall not exceed--
(1) 200 gallons per calendar year if there are 2 or more adults
in such household, or
(2) 100 gallons per calendar year if there is only 1 adult in
such household.

O.k to answer your question.
State law does not override Federal law.
It's the opposite way around.
Say you had a warrant out for a felony and the local cops didn't come for you.
But the FBI did.
Say your state law said you were aloud so much weed.
But the Federals busted you with it.
Federal law says a mandatory 1 year in prison.
Your going up for 1 year even though State law says otherwise.

Great job researching Much2Brew.....You can find this info in the Internal Revenue Code (26 U.S.C. Section 5053) and the limitation is the result of Uncle Sam's concern over the potential loss of excise taxes from the sale of delicious malt beverages. If you homebrew, you are not purchasing beer & Sam fails to collect his tax.

Federal law vs State Law. Read them both. Decide which one sux the most. That is the one which applies to you.
As far as taxes, the way I look at it is the states get their cash one way or another. Sales tax, income tax, or property tax. Texas has a property tax but no income tax. While I'm young and earning money, I'm living here. I'll retire somewhere with no property taxes.

"Not enough."
I second that Phil.
Only 20 gallons in 2006.
Would like to make it 60 this year.

New Hampshire has no income tax nor sales tax. All of the supplies are tax free. All the beer I make is tax free.
So now that we know the federal limit of 200 gallons per household per year, do we know of any cases where this ceiling
has been enforced?

A couple of years ago I saw a listing of the states by highest overall personal tax burden. Oregon was 47. No sales tax, a reasonable income tax (no matter how much people whine about it) and low property tax. Business taxes are pretty high here, however, especially in Portland.

Very true, John. It is pretty reasonable here in Orygun.
My only real complaint about Oregon is the price of housing, it's pretty UNreasonable.
...And there is no Freebirds up here

The price of housing here isn't at all unreasonable compared to a lot of other places, though....

Yea, compared to San Fran, we're sitting pretty. But places like Dallas, it's very high.
