Another great brew by Shiner. I'm really impressed with the new styles they're pushing out. While it still has the Shiner house flavor, this thing is malty and yummy. Highly recommended to the lucky Texas brewers who can get Shiner.

I'd like to try the Shiner, but I'll bet it's weak compared to my Hoptoberfest.

There was a post close to this one where someone was looking for a last minute recipe to brew with Vienna. I posted, and then 2 minutes later read your recipe in a different post.

OK, just so you got it. I don't want you to think it's like an IPA, but it is hoppier than most O-fests that I've tried, which admittedly is limited. I would still like to try the Shiner, but that's a Texas thang.

Im gonna give it a shot. For some reason octoberfest is one of the few styles I have never made. I don't like making exact replicas of the style guidelines, so the fact that it is a little hoppier is perfect for me. In fact, I love entering beers in competitions, losing, and then having the judges tell me my beer was the best, but didn't fit the style profile. Maybe I can do that with your hoptoberfest recipe

Go for it, but you will probably lose. IMO, styles are to be broken.
