Vorlof a greater amount. I used to only do a couple of qts, now I'll Vorlof about a gallon and a half, the beer has gotten much clearer. Using a fining agent will help to, I only have experience with Irish Moss, but it helps.

if im using a yeast i know wont fall out of solution, i usually add bentonite.

I agree using a yeast that will fall out of suspension better is a good step forward, but it is only one part to the clarity of your beer, when making an all grain beer. There are lots of proteins and other particulate matter that can be filtered during the vorlof.

Sediment and clear beer are achievable. I bottle all my beer, I used to have fairly cloudy beer, until I started to vorlof a larger quantity. I have started doing protein rest when using certain grains and giving just a bit more time in the bottle.

Unlike Thom, I've found no correlation between clarity of vorlauf and clarity of beer. I find that correct pH makes a big difference.

I only give my experience as an option to be tried. I noticed a much clearer final product when I vorlofed more and thought my experience would help. I agree that ph is another contributing factor. I don't do water adjustments, when I noticed the difference I had been brewing with the same tap water in El Cajon, CA for a few years. It is possible the public water had a slight change in ph or the type/quantity of grain used allowed a larger/smaller change in ph. I am not saying that everyone would have the same results, but if it helped me to achieve better beer I feel it is worth passing along.

Experience is what counts, Thom, and the fact that we have had different experiences doesn't necessarily mean either of us is wrong or right. Your idea is certainly something that should be tried.

Personally... Some cloudiness is not much of an issue...excess yeast at bottom of bottle is the concern for many; IMHO! 'Decanting' aka slow pours, and not drinking straight from bottle is also of concern for many. BUT!!! I am thinking at about 5 bucks each is a bit much even though you only really need to buy once... Maybe once they get a 'foothold' in US - also known as a distributor...price will drop a bit! Yes, a little extra care at moving to a 'bottling' bucket helps. Some day soonish will move to kegs!

Denny I agree with you. I know of at least 5 ways to do everything brewing related. I don't think there is a wrong or right way to do most everything. I just didn't want anyone thinking that I thought that my way was in my opinion the right or only way of doing things. I listen to every ones input when I ask questions and try different ways until I find the one right for me, then I may pass along that I found my results to be acceptable doing it a certain way. I try not to take anyone's word for it until I prove to myself that something works or not, for me. If I can help someone else make better beer then I feel my time and effort has not been wasted. And I think that's what we're all here for.
