How to secure the footie full of hops so it didn't fall down and clog the P/U tube.

How does the pickup tube get clogged?

I use various zippered sacks for my dry hopping and I don't experience th clogging.... I put a spare coupler in the sack to sink it...

I just thought it might. I've never keg hopped.

Besides, I was in the mood to fire up the O-A Torch.

"I have a Couple of Hop Balls that I use"

does that require a ball lock keg?

Once I moved to the new mellenium, I'll toss in one of the huge stainless washers left over from my weldless kit.

Sir Pooper, your hop balls are not as large as my sack...

I just use unwaxed dental floss to tie up the footie bag. The floss is thin enough that it will still allow the keg to seal. Tie the loose end to the handle and you're good. Just make sure you leave enough for the bag to goto the bottom.

-I'm smelling a lotta IF offa this plan-

I do the same thing as ender only I use a SS steeping ball or two instead of the bag.

I'd like to get a tea ball large enough to hold an ounce of pellets and with a long chain and clip attached to it. Footies and thread are kind of a PITA

As long as your pick up tube is slightly bent towards the center of and in position directly on top of the protruding dimple (bulb) in the center of your corny keg, you will never have any issues with hopping with footies or mesh bags.
Having the pick up tube on top of the bulb will also help reduce yeast pick up as well..
I have bent all of my pick up tubes in this fashion and have never had a stuck pour in 3 years..
hope you find this helpful.
