I have found a package of hops in my fridge..8oz. Cascade leaf. Still sealed in the original bag, no loss in the seal, still vacumm sealed hard as a brick. I think I bought them in 2008.. Can these be used, and if so what could I expect as far as loss of AA or other properties?..

I have some hops that are 5 years old. They are not what they once were. Yes, there were vacuum sealed and kept frozen. Based on my experience, three years is about the limit.

Whew...thanks. I thought I had a casulty on my hands...and a need to buy more. Next batch uses almost all of them, so that will certainly save some cash...
As for keeping them in the freezer, I have no room and no second fridge or freezer to use...so I keep them in the bottom drawer, away from any light when the door opens.... I'll take a big whiff later, see how they are...
