I just brewed a blueberry wheat using 6.6lbs of Munton's wheat boiled for an hour. (I don't have time to do all-grain) I steeped a lb of blueberries for 30 minutes then strained them off. I used 1oz of Crystal hop pellets for the entire boil. Pitched my yeast along with some trub left over from a blueberry porter that's in the bottle now.

When I took my hydrometer reading after I pitched my yeast it seemed to be 1.03. I took one today and it said 1.02. I'm thinking though it's because it hasn't finished fermenting (I threw it together on Saturday). There isn't much action in the air lock but there's a thick, frothy layer on top of the brew in the bucket.

So am I right in thinking that a) it hasnt' finished yet and b) the 1.02 isn't accurate? (that was the line at the top of the layer on top, don't worry I sanitized my hydrometer really well before putting it in the bucket.)

If there's foam on the top, it's still going. Gravity should be taken from the top of the beer, not top of the foam.

Sounds like it's doing fine, just give it time.

Thanks, I knew top of the foam couldn't be right. This is my first time using a hydrometer in a long time and I'm kind of fuzzy on how to read them.
