My last post complaining that I was bored as well as the recent threads on honey have got me thinking. Since I've got so many unused bottles now that I am kegging, maybe I should try my hand at making a mead.
I know this is a beer forum but somebody should be able to point me to a website with a can't miss mead recipe and technique.

Nope, afraid there isn't. I've been trying to get the AHA to do that, but I doubt it will happen any time soon. If you have questions, shoot me an email and I can help you get in touch with either Kris or Curt.

On this topic, I just racked over my two mead's this past weekend and let me tell you, woo-hoo. The strawberry is great, a hint of strawberry flavor and a good nose too. The color is like a blush wine, I think this one is going to be great. The blueberry is dark as a Burgundy wine with a nose of blueberry and I actually got more flavor from the blueberries than I thought I would, although you can still taste the honey. This one is also going to be out of this world. I use two T-58 yeast cakes when I made these and was thinking, after the fact, that I may get some flavor from the original beer I fermented with the yeast, but to my suprize, I didn't. I'm quite happy so far. Both came in at 0.996 so I think it's time to let clear and bottle.
