Not sure how close this is, but BeerTools has it on their site.

You're welcome. Are you doing extract or partial mash?

I am now thinking of trying this as a partial mash, have only 2 brew batches under my belt and both were extract only, want to try a partial next. Am also in the process of building my mash/lauter tun.
I can't wait to try an all grain batch!

Darth, anotherdrummer or MiTcH or anyone else,

Did anyone actually brew this recipe? If so, how did it turn out? I like this beer and would like to try and brew it.

Thanks!

D.R. I searched umpty kazillion sites and came up with this a while back...
Was my 2nd brew after a long hiatus.
Admittedly, I screwed it up by adding fake scotch and fake oak extracts to 2ndary!
It tasted good before I did that, however.
And, I have not re-brewed but plan to soonish.

NBB 1554 Enlightened tastealike
5 Gal
ABV ~5.2%

~5 lbs light dry malt extract
2 lbs munich II
3/4 lbs debittered/de-husked black
sub Black Patent if you must
6 oz CaraPils
4 oz Chocolate
1/4 tsp lightly crushed Grains of Paradise
1 oz Liberty hops ~25 IBU
White labs WLP830 yeast.

Crush and place all grains in 2 Gal filtered water, steep at ~150* for 1 hr, remove grains, bring to boil, add 1 Gal water, add 3 lbs dry malt, return to boil, add hops and boil for 45 min, add remaining dry extract, continue boil for 15 more min. Add 1/4 tsp lightly crushed Grains of Paradise last 5 minutes of boil. Cool to ~68* then add wort to primary with filtered (cooled ~60*) H2O to make ~5 gals, pitch yeast - use a starter at 60-68*. Aerate well. Ferment at cooler temps. Secondary or not as you wish!

Yes, that's a lager yeast used to make this! Rumor has it they smoke some (1/2) of those 2-row grains... Next time I will as well...

Thanks JWJB! I might try this in the near future. Hopefully I'll get to brew a Belgian ale tomorrow, but that's not a guarantee...
