I am sorry, I know that I have asked dumn questions before. Well here is another.
Is C02 from a welding supply shop good for my home brew and kegging? Isnt there a difference between welding C02 and C02 to carbonate beer and pop?

http://www.airgas.com/

Chain of welding supply shops that love to add on power surcharges, environmental charges, etc. You call and get what appears to be a good price, only to find out that's just the base price. They suck.

Are you using welding CO2 regulators for your tank too?

The gas comes from the same source, i.e. it comes off the same truck. The difference is how many times they vacuum the bottles when they fill it. I always go with welding grade with all the gas that I buy.

The HBS that I usually go to refills the 5# tanks for $13. I guess that's pretty good?

I just swap my co2 tank at a local welding and propane supply - they traded a 20lb tank of co2 for $17 - that has been the same price for the past 4 years now.

yeah I was pretty psyched. What made this an even better deal is that the local bar and restaurant supply place told me it would be $60 to REFILL my 20lb tank. I almost laughed at the guy when he gave me that price.

The only concern with welding gas CO2 would be if the idiot filling the bottle filled it with anything other than non-mixed CO2. Several welding gases are a mix of 2 or 3 gasses, usually argon, sometimes helium also.

So drinking this beer would make you sound like one of the Chipmunks and could be used to treat decompression illness? Score!
