Never used em, so Mr Coffee just set me up with a half pound of these. Extremely pungeant and AA @ 7%. I'm ready for my spring Belgians and a really great BW. Check these out guys and gals, if your LHBS has em' ask for a whiff.

Are those the same as Styrian Aurora? I used them in a Belgian Trippel and was not crazy about them. Maybe this was the wrong beer to try them in. It has mellowed out quite a lot though. I got a spruce like flavor and aroma from them.

Here's some info from freash hops on Aurora. This makes super styrians sound
kinda ...interesting?
OTHER INFORMATION: Similar in quality characteristics to Northern Brewer;
this hop achieved the largest acreage of all the four
Superstyrians (over 1000 acres) released in the early
1970's; Aurora, together with Ahil (USDA 21050), Apolon
(USDA 21051) and Atlas (USDA 21052) entered the hop trade
in the early 1970's as Superstyrian hop similar to
Styrian Golding (USDA 21049). All four, however, have
higher alpha and different aroma properties than Styrian
which led to confusion. Aurora seems to be the best of
the four in terms of yield potential and aroma. Acreage
has been reduced somewhat in recent years in favor of the
old established Savinski (Styrian) Golding (USDA 21049).

I believe that Super Styrians and Styrian Aurora are the same. Trumer Brewing uses Styrian Aurora in their Pils. I recently used them in a Pils which is till lagering, but samples taste fine.

Ah, I thought the "super" was a description, not part of the name!

There's a Biere de Garde called 'Jade' that uses Austrian Aurora, never had it,
never heard of it for that matter. Had a bottle of Castelain once. Oh well.

These are just labeled generically as Super Styrians. They smell great, noble, yet woody / piney. They are one of or a mix of any of the following hops. Ahil, Aurora, Atlas, or Apolon. All of these were classified as 'super styrians' as well as blends of the four.
