So I know it's a little late but Dave from the Firkin Homerackers Brew Club put together this video from the 3rd. Was a great time (even with work and all) and many a great beers were brewed. If any of the brewers from that day are listening, I'm waiting for samples

I don't know the exact number but the guys brewed 80+ gallons of beer and chewed up atleast 6 or 7 bags of pilsen malt. Always great to see these guys contraptions all in one place.

PS I make a brief appearance filling Birney's kettle from the HLT. Although I filled it too fast for him and he missed the footage so I'm acting in that shot hahah. Gotta love 60gpm. Also notice the 'non conforming area'. I like to think I spend most of my time there.

In New Orleans when we do a group brew it's using club equipment up to a 90G batch but usually 55G or else use a brewpub's setup

Yeah I don't think they have a club system so they all bring out their own. Do you guys have a 1 bbl club system or something like kotmf? Would be cool to fire up the 30BBL for the club brew but that's alot of cost.

Crescent City homebrewers has a pair of about 60 G pots and a couple I believe are near 90 but even the triple burner stand takes so long to heat that much water and to boil that we rarely are able to use the big boys. The club dues are 30 bux/year which allows us to subsidize these brewoffs...we have a lot of dues paying non-brewing sippers so I like the idea that we can encourage homebrewing...yesterday's brewoff was especially nice ...look at my other recent post

"But why would you live near sea level-LA brew scene"

..The nearby brewclubs join us to have group grain/hop buys since our LHBS closed as the population shrunk severely (temporarily) when the Federal levees collapsed 8/05;we have our own pleasant permanent meeting place and a fair amount of activities- crawfish boil in 2 weeks with one free admit per member and $20 per guest... enough to keep me,not by nature a club joiner, involved.

Sounds like a good time. Over 1BBL and you want steam, atleast in my opinion on heating efficiency. I'll have to check out tat post, I skipped over that post, figured it was a west coast 'woes of hot day brewing' post already...

Another subgroup of the club ("6 guys abrewing" has a steamjacketed setup which they put on wheels (they were gifted it by a salvager who found it in a closed out restaurant he bought out)- but 1) difficult to take to the brew sites ...the one time I saw it used -2 )it did not seem any quicker than the triple burner propane and 3) the club has no way to compensate the host fairly for the natural gas it would take so we haven't gone that way
BTW,these 6 guys had a giant SS fermenter ringed with coils of commercial cooling line (Freon?) but that produced ICE on the periphery while the center of the fermenter was still at 80!
