Does anyone know what the imprinted numbers on the Rochefort 8 label means?
The bottle I have is:
060911
07:36
Thanks,
Dave

The 060911 is most likely their "best before date". The Belgian govt. requires that now, for whatever reason. I've heard that most breweries make up a date, and print it.
The 07:36 is prolly at what time of day it tastes best. In this case, it must be a breakfast beer

N8 is correct about the "expiration" date. It is required. Some breweries use 3 years from the date it was bottled and some use 5. I thought that Rochefort used 3 years but since Nov 6 2008 hasn't happened I guess 5. I'll have to check that.

The 7:36 may be the time it was bottled (very well may not be too). I remember BLAM saying that one of the Trappist brewers marked bottles in such a way so that they could more accurately troubleshoot problems.

I read that as Sep 6th 2011 (dd/mm/yy), so assuming 5 years as Caped said, maybe brewed on Sep 6th 2006?? Could it really be that old??
edit: I guess that really isn't that old.. less than 2 years, that is about what I see with the Chimay blues that I buy here in CO.

"Since Rochefort puts a ?best buy? date of five years out on its beers, and some consumers cellar them even longer, you don?t have rush to drink up the beers imported by Shelton. This announcement means that as stock for Rochefort 6 disappears it will be replaced."

I can almost assure you that the time code is when that bottle passed through the labeler.
