Found out 10 days ago my dog (Jeter) has kidney problems. Vet put him on a special diet that made his pancreas crap out. He's been at the vet's for 3 days getting drugs and the whole family's getting depressed. Time to brew and cheer things up around here! Gonna put a Rich Gale twist on an Irish Ale:

Caramel Irish Ale
8 lbs 8.0 oz Pale Malt, Maris Otter (3.0 SRM) 80.95 %
8.0 oz Barley, Flaked (1.7 SRM) 4.76 %
8.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt -Medium (55.0 SRM) 4.76 %
1 lbs Sugar,Carmelized (100.0 SRM) 9.52 %
0.50 oz Williamette [5.50 %] (90 min) (First Wort Hop) 8.9 IBU
1.00 oz Fuggles [6.00 %] (60 min) 18.2 IBU
0.50 oz Goldings, East Kent [5.00 %] (30 min Aroma Hop-Steep)
0.50 oz Fuggles [6.00 %] (30 min Aroma Hop-Steep)
1 White Labs #WLP004 Irish Ale yeast cake

What do you guys think?

Sorry to hear about your dog Poobah. Why don't you give us a happy memory with your dog to help cheer you up?

Good idea. Friendliest dog on earth. He's an 8-year old Brittney. Happiest times are when he greets you each morning like he hasn't seen you in a week! Oops, now I'm sad again. Time for an ESB....

Poobah, how do you make the caramelized sugar and what flavor does it bring to the batch? I brewed a porter last fall and used piloncillo (mexican brown sugar), beer came out great, gave it a nice burnt sugar taste.

Soory about Jeter, Poobah.

I've got a beer you might be able to enjoy. It was brewed by Rogue in memory of John's dog Brewer, that died about a year or so ago.
drop me an email,(in my profile), and I'll get your address and send it out.
