| This recipe was designed to be 'strong enough for a man, made a woman.' MY wife had tasted a very good stout at a local brewpub and wanted something with some sweetness & chocolate/coffee tones without being heavily hopped. With a lot of help, I made Skwerl Stout to fit that bill. I have enjoyed a great deal, it has fit my wife's tastes well, and has converted several guests who said they 'don't like Guinness.' This will definitely be made again, although I intend to add flaked barley to it next time for my first shot at partial mash. |

Sounds very good. And good luck with patial mash. Just wait till you get to all-grain! |

Just to follow-up: This brew continues to improve as it ages. Six weeks later, it reminds me somewhat of Obsidian Stout in malty flavors, but not nearly as hoppy. I will definitely be making this again. |

Now that I see "DConn" on here, just wanted to note that he & others in the online HB community offered some good feedback on this recipe. Thanks. |

Wonderful recipe. Changed a few things to get closer to Obsidian Stout, 8.25# Amber liquid, 5 oz. perle instead of EKG and used Irish Ale Yeast. To good to be true!!! Working on second batch!! Got rave reviews even from "non" stout drinkers. |
